<p>It takes only 10- 15 minutes of your time and can change the way you look and most importantly FEEL in just a matter of days.  You can do it on a treadmill, on a bike, stair climber, outside (around the block), up a hill, in the swimming pool, pretty much what I am trying to say is interval training can be done anywhere (so no excuses).  </p>
<p> </p>
<p>It's 60 seconds of "all you got" followed by 30-60 seconds of a moderate pace (always make sure you are warm-up before starting).  Going from aerobic to anaerobic allows the body to burn more calories in a shorter amount of time and releases all the "feel good" chemicals that can help with depression, anxiety, insomnia, and much more.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In all, if you are a person who just doesn't have the time or focus to sit in the gym all day, try interval training and see how you can reshape your body and possibly your life!  </p>]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>I was going through some of the questions I have been emailed lately and I would say 50% of them involve "hitting a plateau".  I feel that this happens all too often, so our solution to the problem is realizing that there is no such thing.  We have unlimited resources to ensure that our bodies and minds never hit a plateau, this goes back to my last post of "switching it up".  You know how your mind can get bored very easily, well your body can do the same thing.  If you have been walking for cardio, start some running/jogging.  If you haven't been doing any resistance training, add it in.  If you feel like you don't know what else to do (limited knowledge about exercise) ask the questions and gain the knowledge.  If you can challenge yourself to think this way you will be amazed at how finding solution is much more rewarding than playing the game of stop and start over and over again.   </p>]]></description>

One of the most important things a person can do before and after a workout is stretch, but first you must know what kind of stretching.  Dynamic and static stretching are a must and can help you achieve better gains in your workouts and prevent injury.
<br />
A pre-workout warm-up (10 min on the treadmill) and dynamic stretching can prevent injury and aid in a better workout all together.  Dynamic stretching is as simple as rolling the joints, for example rotating the shoulders in a circular motion front-to-back and back-to-front.  This not only helps heat/warm-up the muscle, but also gets the ligaments and tendons ready.
<br />
A post workout cool down (10 min on the treadmill) and static stretching not only helps you get healthy flexible muscle (a flexible muscle is a healthy muscle), but it also is the best way to get your body into balance.  Static stretching is the more familiar form of stretching, which most of us avoid.  It's done by elongating the muscle, for example, keeping the legs straight and bending down to touch the toes (stretching the hamstrings) holding for a 20-30 second count.  Static stretching  will not only help with recovery time, it will give your body the balance it needs and allow you to preform at your highest level.

Try both dynamic and static stretching for the next 10 days and let us know how is goes!

		<description><![CDATA[I was looking around the gym today and noticing how many people where failing to get a good stretch and contraction with each repetition.   We've all seen the person that throws as much weight on the bar as they can and does 2" squats or the guy on the preacher curl machine that short arms every rep, but are they really doing anything?   <br /> A healthy muscle has good shape, is long and flexible and one way to get healthy muscles is by paying attention to each reps stretch and contraction.  Most people are satisfied with the fact they are in the gym and doing something, but don't you want the best results possible?  It's the small things like the stretch and contraction of each rep that can help give you the results you want.   <br /> I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! <br /> Be well, JP]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[We are always looking outside for the fix, the cure, the thing that is going to change all of our problems, but in truth we possess all the wisdom and strength within ourselves to <em>be</em> the cure.  For example,  I received a very unsatisfying phone call today and my first thought was "It's the end of the world" (dramatic version), but then I thought I can let this phone call control me and take me to the most horrible places in my mind . . .  or I can be "the cure" and change the way I let this situation affect me.  There is always a silver lining, a positive way to look at a situation - for instance where one thing ends another begins. Now, instead of feeling down, I feel hopeful, trusting and excited about new directions.   So look at things differently, act on these things from that perspective, and trust the process of your beautiful life.  BE YOUR OWN CURE.]]></description>

I have so many people ask me "how do I get rid of this area", while grabbing their lower abdominals or love-handles.  Well outside of exercise, there are certain foods that can help minimize that waist and maximize your health.  Here is a list of a few that can help.
<br />
- Berries, tart cherries (not the ones drenched in syrup), and grapes all have plant chemicals that are great at burning that lower abdominal fat and anti oxidants that attack the free radicles so you can be at your healthiest.
<br />
- Healthy Fats! nuts, avocados, flaxseed oil, DARK CHOCOLATE (60% or higher) are all great at balancing out those hormones that cause mid section weight.
<br />
- Whole grains like oats, brown rice, quinoa can do an amazing job of reducing belly fat.  
<br />
- Lean Proteins like chicken, turkey, egg whites, fish are lower in fat then other proteins and digest slowly so that your body has something to work with throughout the day and you stay full longer(same concept as complex carbs).
<br />
If you are a person trying to trim the mid section give these foods a try.  Combine these with some good exercise and I promise the results will come.  Enjoy your day!!

I used to think that having a child would make it difficult to find time to exercise but I am discovering that it is quite the opposite. I have given many mothers advice about going out for a walk with their baby's to help lose baby weight and help minimize post-partum issues. Well now I am living the advice I was giving. I know I'm not a female and believe me ladies i have so much more respect for you after seeing all that my wife has done and gone through but I am enjoying and learning so much from being a father myself. Something so simple like going for a walk has not only made me happier and healthier but it makes things so much more fulfilling. 		<description><![CDATA[Hey Everyone!  Sorry for the lack of communication lately.  I just experienced a huge shift in my world: the birth of my first child, a beautiful baby boy!  When they say you lose sleep they are not kidding, but it is all so worth it!  Having a child has done something to me not only has it made my heart immensely bigger and life more abundant.  It has forced me to be more present in the moment because this little guy is changing so much everyday and I don't want to miss a thing.

		<description><![CDATA[So many of you are doing so much everyday to take care of the day.  Your a full time mother/husband, a full time parent, a full time employee, and the time left for you is minimal and is mostly used for rest.  I challenge you to take back sometime for you, some good quality time to use toward your passions, health, and sanity.   
<br />
Sit down and write down your schedule for the week, if there is some fat that can be cut out of your day then snip away,  you will not believe the changes that can occur just by lightening your load.

Ingredients:<br />
For each person:
1 or 2 navel oranges
2 tablespoons raw/ unrefined honey or maple syrup
ground cinnamon
Slice up the oranges drizzle with honey or maple syrup and sprinkle with cinnamon. Refreshing high fiber low calorie and packed with vitamin C - perfect for winter. This delicious dessert is aprox 100 calories per serving as opposed to most desserts which are 300 takes minutes to prepare and is very inexpensive.
