Christmas is almost here and so are the desserts/treats. This year try and prepare a guilt-free healthy alternative to your usual indulgences. Here is an example!
I bake apples for a warm aromatic dessert that is reminiscent of apple pie and half the calories.  Core 4 apples.  Mix up two tablespoons butter (the only little cheat that makes them taste as delicious as high calorie desserts;) with cinnamon and a little maple syrup.  Stuff the apples with this, bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Top with a dollop of low sugar vanilla yoghurt or a tablespoon of light whipped cream.  You can add chopped nuts if you like, upping the calories a little but adding good fats.
I can't wait to try both of these recipes!!!! They sound delicious! And could not come at a more perfect time!
look delicious! and perfect dessert!
ah man, i am SO trying those recipes!!  i hope it doesn't matter what kind of oranges i have cuz we only do cuties/ clementines around here.  :)
and  i know this is a stupid question, but does it matter which kind of apples are used for this second yummy recipe??
They both sound very good !  Thanks for the suggestions.  Debi and Frisky I liked your discussion on motivation.....Debi your motivation ideas are great....I'm past the five day challenge and have continued.....nooo Christmas cookies yet.....and actually I'm okay with that !  Hope to see you ladies on BDB over the holidays!  Merry Christmas to everyone !

PJ - you are a stronger woman than me!  I'm doing much better than I have in the past though. So that's good. And I'm getting back on the wagon... I know that eating healthier will make me feel better and the longer I stick to it the easier it gets to continue...Merry Christmas!
good for you, sisters! dang, PJ!! no cookies?? at all?? you rock, female!! i'm currently practicing  the art of moderation. and apparently the art of meditation as well. yep. as i pass the cookies and candy on the kitchen counter, i start to chant, "mo-der-a-tion. mo-der-a-tion. i - can - do - this. i - can - do - this."  tee hee hee!! yeah. i've lost my flippin mind...
moderation meditation - I like that! Of all the things I've lost - I miss my mind the most.
Merry Christmas Debi and Angie - Frisky and Jessie and everyone else!  Hey, I agree it's all moderation and don't put me on a pedistal yet !  Don't think I spent all that time making them and I won't eat them :-)  But I am going to savor each one, slowly and then stop.  Years past I would just inhale.  I've slowed down my eating....put the fork down, chew, enjoy.  Jessie suggested that for Thanksgiving and I was the last one done eating and I had no seconds!  I remembered eating so I enjoyed it more.
On a separate note...I can't login to BDB Shellans :-(  I'll keep trying !  Well, I have 12 peeps coming over tonight....must clean :-(

Jessie thanks again for this forum....I'm looking forward to a healthier and happier 2010!
